Congrats to Bill Costello, our 2011 Celebrity Apprentice - November 10, 2011

2011 Local Celebrity Apprentice, Bill Costello, aka "Frenchie"

Job Point congratulates Columbia’s Local Celebrity Apprentice, Bill Costello, Relationship Manager for Boone County National Bank.  Norm “The Boss” Ruebling selected Mr. Costello at Job Point’s 2nd annual event held at Deja Vu.  Sixteen local business people competed in four teams to raise awareness and money for Job Point in a street challenge at 9th and Broadway on Tuesday, November 2nd, and in a talent competition on November 3rd. The winning YELLOW team included Mr. Costello; Micki Marerro of New York Deli and sponsored by Rogers, Ehrhardt & Webber, LLC; Tiffany Oetting of Columbia Insurance Group; and John Warner of the Columbia Police Department and sponsored by Boone Hospital Center.  For the Street Challenge, the YELLOW Team dressed as hippies and sold groovy gifts packaged in old records melted into bowls.  Sticking with the 60’s theme for the Talent Challenge, the yellow team performed a lip sync routine based on the popular movie and Broadway show, Grease.  As finalists, Ms. Oetting and Mr. Costello (aka “Frenchie”) were each posed a final question by Mr. Ruebling to determine the winner.

The GREEN Team: Scott Priesmeyer with NH Scheppers Distributing Company; Wendy Swetz of JWR Brokers & Associates; Peter Moe from MBS Textbook Exchange; and Sara Mueller, representing KFRU offered a Job Point Wheel of Fortune with each customer a winner and raffled an iPad2.  For the Talent Challenge, the Green Team performed a skit as Doc and Norm and the Mo-X supermodels, with guest appearance by Aaron Rose, the Mo-X announcer and his new baby boy.

The BLUE Team: Gary Robinson of Gary B. Robinson Jewelers, representing DeSpain Cayce Dermatology Center & Medical Spa; Katie Gibson with Isle of Capri Casino & Hotel; Mark Flakne of Cellular Connections, the AT&T Authorized Retailer on Rangeline; and Rory Dunham of Allied Mortgage Group, representing Peckham & Wright Architects, Inc raffled a gift basket.  The lucky winner received items valued at over $2,000.  The BLUE Team’s musical talent was showcased in an original song promoting Job Point, complete with go-go dancers and a groupie.

The ORANGE Team: Bill Bales with Inside Columbia; Lynda Hodges of The Insurance Group; Dan (Bingo) Bingenheimer from Prudential Vision Properties; and Chuck Everitt of Award Pet Supply, representing University Subaru also raffled gifts valued at more than $2,000, recruited Truman the Tiger and an MU cheerleader to pump up the street crowd for Job Point, and braved a dunking booth.  For the talent competition, the orange team sang, “I Love Job Point”, masquerading as Sonny & Cher to the tune of their hit “I Love You Babe”.

The four Apprentice teams raised nearly $13,000 through their two challenges.
