Job Point proudly announced its 2016 Award Recipients during its Annual Awards Banquet at the Reynolds Alumni Center at the University of Missouri on March 9th. From over 400 persons served, two individuals were honored for outstanding employment and personal triumph with an Award of Excellence. Lakeela Mings is an information specialist at Columbia Chamber of Commerce and current Job Point Board Member, after completing Job Point’s office support specialist program. Beau Leach is employed at the Peter’s Heating and Air Conditioning as a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician (HVAC), after completing Job Point’s HVAC trades program. Job Point salutes these remarkable individuals for their resolve in overcoming barriers to employment. John Scalise, Manager of Rehabilitation Services, was honored as the Employee of the Year for his dedication and service to others. Super 8 East was selected as the Employer of the Year for supporting the talents of individuals seeking employment and continuing the professional development of their employees. Lenoir Woods was honored as Partner of the Year for their outstanding support. Donna Beckett, former Board Director and current Comedy Night fundraiser coordinator, was acknowledged as Volunteer of the Year for her invaluable contributions and continued commitment. Avery Nelson, 2015 Award of Excellence winner and YouthBuild graduate, was honored with the inaugural Gary J. Taylor Memorial Award for the pursuit of continuing education.
