Highway Heavy Construction Class Starts Sept 2 - August 12, 2014

GE DIGITAL CAMERAJob Point’s next class for Highway/Heavy Construction (HHC) training is scheduled to begin September 2, 2014 in Columbia and Warrensburg. This 16-week program utilizes an industry-recognized curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

With an aging construction workforce force, the construction field has a high-demand for skilled personnel. The Highway/Heavy Construction program includes Flagger Certification, a hands-on paid internship and the opportunity to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. Graduates are equipped for positions such as concrete finisher, construction equipment operator, highway maintenance worker, or paving, surfacing and tamping equipment operator, with an entry salary at $26,000 to $30,000.

Women and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply. Financial assistance is available through the Federal Highway Administration, Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Workforce Investment Act, City of Columbia Community Development Block Grant and Heart of Missouri United Way.
